what to wear to disney: top 6 tips

Going to Disney World, the top fashion priority is comfort.  Function definitely follows form here.  But just because comfort comes first doesn't mean you can't look cute!  Here is what I learned from our hastily planned (just 6 weeks!) trip in March:

#1 Bring a rain poncho.
It's Florida y'all...it's gonna rain.  It's just a question of when.  It poured the whole first morning we where there, but it didn't slow us down much.  We still got out and had fun.
Day1: Epcot

#2  Matching shirts.
If you have a large group, matching shirts makes it SOOO much easier to spot members of your group at a distance.  We had our family shirts I made, but the other days, we all wore the same color.  Is it necessary, no.  It does make for fun photos though!
Day 1: Epcot

#3 Bring a sweater.
We went in March and had a few pretty chilly days, but even on the warm ones, I wanted my sweater when we were in the sometimes chilly air conditioned indoors. I get cold easily. :)
Day 2: Hollywood Studios

#4 Fanny packs are AWESOME!
I don't know if you can see it very well in the picture below (green, under the baby), but this thing made my life so much better.  I stuffed a couple diapers, a small package of wipes, sunscreen, lipgloss, baby formula, keys, cards, snacks in this little bag I got for $1 at a yard sale.  I had my hands free, could get to everything I needed easily and didn't have to worry about leaving a bag in the stoller.
Day 3: Magic Kingdom

#5 Bring sunglasses and a hat.
When it's not raining it SUNNY!  Save your eyes and face (especially on those little people), cover up. Notice most of us squinting in the pic below. :)
Day 4: Magic Kingdom

#6 Comfortable shoes are a must!
You are going to be walking all day, everyday you are there.  This is not a time for any heels (I really did see people wearing them, crazy!) or even your cute flats.  Tennis shoes, or comfy sandals.  My moccasins are just about the most comfy shoes I own.  I was so glad I wore them.
Day 4: Magic Kingdom

#6 Dress comfy for traveling too.
We drove all day to get there, and go home.  I got sick (stomach bug) on the way home.  I was curled in a ball most of the drive back and was glad my clothes were not too fussy, but I still didn't look like a bum when I ran into the stall at the gas station.  I'm not saying yoga pants, but be comfortable.
Day 5: Going home

Don't forget the kids need these too!  Everyone will have more fun if they are comfortable, all it takes is a little pre-planning.  You'll have a wonderful time!

love,
Caroline

  4. Fanny packs? With matching shirts?

*sigh* ;) To each their own - I've done Disney 15 times now, and I can tell you definitively matching shirts and fanny packs are never on that list for us. Things like water bottles, a mini messenger bag, and comfy clothes are though.
